The Parade

Too late to be a Victorian slide, but the same principle, and this picture was described as Jersey 1906 on the frame. Some quick detective work established that this was a view of the south side of The Parade, viewed from close to where the Cenatoph would be built a decade and more later. The buildings clearly match those seen in similar views up until World War Two, but in later years many of these properties were demolished and rebuilt, and the row has very few matches for the street today. There are remarkably few photographs of this side of the Parade in the Jerripedia collection, but those we have leave us in no doubt about the location of this particular image
